- Judging for the 2005-2006 awards has been completed. To find out more information about it see the previous years award section.
- Innovative Use of ICT - How it Supports Inclusion
- All entries for for the SEN ICT awards must be in for
the end of June. The awards will be judged on Tuesday 11th July 2006.
Herriots will host the venue and each school will be given a ten minute
slot.
The judging panal will consist of a represenative from Herriots, Tim
Peers from Harcourt, Rob Kay from Lexia, Paul Nuttall from Granada SEMERC,
Fred Coker ICT Advisor and Nick Caws Principal Head Psychologist.
- The DVD will be on sale on the Pearson's Education
stand at the exhibition at the NEC Birmingham March 9th/10th/11th 2006
- Year 11 pupils at Hartshead Sports College are monitoring
the sales of the DVD throughout the UK. They will also be attending
the exhibition at the NEC Birmingham on 10th March to view the sales
of the DVD which wll be on the Pearson's Education Stand.
- The Tameside Literacy Club DVD has been launched. To

- This website has been entered for an e-Tameside award.
- Wednesday January 18th 2006 sees the launch of the
Tameside Literacy Club DVD at Hartshead Sports College. It is by invitation
only. You will be able to view clips from the DVD on this website and
you can order a copy by e-mailing Kathleen
Pearson. The cost is 15 per copy plus 1.50 for postage and packaging.

- Mike Jones will be demonstrating Nessy for all schools
in the authority at 4-5pm on Thursday February 9th 2006. Venue to be
arranged. Watch this space.
- At 4-5pm on Thursday 16th March 2006 A demonstration
of products from Widgit by Tina LaMarca and Emma Holroyde from Logotron
will also demonstrate their software. Venue to be arranged. Click

- Mathsworks and Wave 3 Numberzones are demonstrating
their new resources on 10th November 2005. For more information please

- A big thanks to Mike Jones from 'Nessy' who gave a
demonstration of the programme along with Brain Booster. The software
was met with enthusiam by all who attended. Mike has been invited to
return to Tameside in the New Year and present the software to all the
school in the borough.
- Michael Jones from Nessy will be demonstrating the
software on Wednesday 5th October to the advisory teachers and educational
psychologists with a view to demonstrating the product to all Tameside
schools. Date and venue to be arranged.
- The Literacy Club which is an excellent example of
Wave 3 literacy intervention has been filmed at Hartshead Sport's College.
The will be used as a training video and a demonstration of good practice.
It is expected to be available for sale in October 2005. You will be
able to purchase a copy from Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council SENSU.

- Rob Kay from Lexia is demonstrating reading skills
and cognitive software on Thursday 13th Oct 2005 at Astley Sports College
& community high school between 4-5pm. Flyers will be sent into
schools giving further details of this event.

- CAP NEWS On 13th April 2005 Sue Storr from Abilitynet
hosted a CAP Contact Dyslexia Assessment Course at Portland Basin Museum.

- 14/4/05 an interesting talk was delivered by Paul Nuttall
from Granada Learning SEMERC who kindly demonstrated some of his company's
software for early years and SpLD. The programmes demonstrated were:
Leaps and Bounds using switch access, Sound Beginnings, Eye Track and
Spell Track. Those who attended were given a free copy of Spell Track.
We would like to thank St Damian's Science College for providing the
venue and to Paul.
- 6/4/05 ~ Hitesh Patel from Pearson/Longman was unable
to demonstrate Maths Works to EPALS and the maths advisor at Tameside
Council Offices. However Claire from the company came along to demonstrate
their product.
- On 13th April 2005 Sue Storr from Abilitynet is leading
a CAP Contact Dyslexia Assessment Course for the learning support advisory
teachers and for CAP contacts in the Northwest region. This course will
cover a cap update, windows built in features and low/no cost options,
word prediction, mind mapping and organisation and voice recognition.
This will take place at Portland Basin Museum in Ashton Under Lyne from
10.00 to 3.30 and is free.

- Paul Nuttall from Granada Learning SEMERC is demonstrating
new software for Early Years and SpLD on Thursday 14th April at St Damian's
Science College at 4:30pm.
- The Literacy Club which is an excellent example of
Wave 3 literacy intervention is currently being filmed at Hartshead
Sport's College. This will be released onto a DVD and can be used as
a training video and a demonstration of good practice. It is due to
be released within the next 8 weeks. You can purchase a copy from Tameside
Metropolitan Borough Council SENSU. More information regarding content
will be released later.
- On 4/2/05 Hitesh Patel and Tim Peers from Pearson/Longman
demonstarted Knowledge Box and Digitext at Ridgehill Primary School.
The invitation was open to all schools in Tameside. Forty one schools
attended and were each given free books and software equivilant to 100.
