Education Psychology and Learning Support: Educational Psychology

Who is your service aimed at?

  • Improving Outcomes for all Children and Young People aged 0 -19
  • Improving outcomes specifically for Children and Young People who have additional or special educational needs

What does your service offer to schools?

  • Consultation on a range of issues from systemic e.g Anti-Bullying Policy to those concerning an individual child
  • Design and delivery of INSET aimed at supporting skill development and the capacity of schools to include and improve outcomes for all children
  • Contribution to action planning and review of interventions for individual children at SA and SA+ following a detailed contextual and individual assessment

How do schools access your service?

A Service Level Agreement is negotiated every year between each School and its designated Educational Psychologist. This records the number of days of Educational Psychologist time, which has been allocated to the School and sets out how the time will be used and a timetable of visits.

All work is negotiated in advance and individual assessments are carried out in those circumstances where concerns about adequate progress persist following interventions made by the School.

How do schools contact you?

Contact arrangements are usually agreed between the designated Educational Psychologist and the School when the Service Level Agreement is negotiated.

In addition the Educational Psychology Service can be contacted on 0161-342- 2218/2219 and a message can be forwarded to the Educational Psychologist for the School.
