Tameside Early Years Quality Team

Who is your service aimed at?

The Quality Team provide support, advice and professional development for all childcare providers and settings providing Foundation Stage education in Tameside. The team is managed and lead by the Quality Team leader and is based at the Early Years Quality Development Centre, which is in the grounds of Ryecroft Hall, Manchester Road, Audenshaw, M34 5GJ.

The team consists of:

What does your service offer to schools?

Early Years Foundation Stage Consultants

Early Years Foundation Stage Consultants are qualified teachers who provide support advice and training for all practitioners working within the Foundation Stage in school nursery and reception classes as well as in private day nurseries, pre-schools, independent schools and childminders who are in receipt of Nursery Education Grant.

Children's Centre Teachers

Children's Centre Teachers work in partnership with parents, carers and providers of early education and childcare from all sectors. They support and enhance the quality of care and learning in the Children's Centre and other provision within the wider community of the Children's Centre.

Area SENCOs

Area SENCOs work closely with Foundation Stage Consultants and Early Years Officers to ensure co-ordinated support for inclusive practice. They work with settings in the non-maintained sector who are on Tameside's directory of Nursery Education Grant. They provide support and advice to the settings designated SENCO in following the graduated approach within the SEN Code of Practice. In addition, they support children with additional needs and their families through transition into maintained nurseries and schools. They deliver Inclusion training as well as facilitating termly SENCO Networks.

Early Years and Childcare Officers

Early Years and Childcare Officers each have responsibility for one of the four service delivery areas of Tameside. Their role is to provide support, information, training and advice for all childcare providers in Tameside. They support birth to three provision childminders, out of school clubs, crèche and networks. They also mentor settings on Tameside's Quality Assurance Scheme.

Childminder Development and Support Team
  • Support prospective Childminders through the pre registration training and registration process - Buddy Scheme
  • Support registered childminders through Quality Assurance scheme - NCMA Children Come First Childminder Network
  • Facilitate Childminder groups within all Children's Centres across the Borough
  • Support Network Childminders in seeking accreditation to access Nursery Education Grant
  • Promote Childminding as a professional childcare option to parents across the Borough
  • Facilitate such training as requested by Childminders for their own professional development
  • Support and advise childminders through OfSTED inspections and beyond
