A Solution Focused initiative involving SENCo's/Inclusion Managers in the Stalybridge/Mossley
clusters.

The rationale re: the introduction of a consultation/ solution focused initiative involving
SENCo's in Stalybridge and Mossley.
Background:
In 2005, a consultation/solution focused initiative was introduced to the teaching assistants
and SSA's within Stalybridge. It has since incorporated the Mossley schools.
Many TA's and SSA's had worked previously on the Tameside Learning Support Service. Due to
delegation most now appeared to be working in an insular environment and their only contact is
with colleagues within their own school. Whilst working for the service they were given the opportunity
for regular meetings and joint training. This, they indicated was a valuable source of professional
development. Since the introduction of this initiative many of the benefits have been restored
within a solution -focused framework.
The group is well established and there are regular meetings. Due to the success of the TA/SSA
group, establishing a similar initiative for SENCo's/Inclusion Managers is proposed to incorporate
the schools in both Stalybridge and Mossley.
