A consultation and solution focused initiative

Aims


Pattern of meetings:
  • To meet at least every half term. For the TA's and SSA's to be released from timetable for half a day
  • Separate clusters, one for secondary colleagues and another for primary
  • Meetings for TA's and SSA's only
  • To assist in directing TA's and SSA's through consultation in encouraging them to find their own solutions to problems

Objectives

  • To share good practice
  • To look at and discuss resources
  • To look at new material on the market
  • Provide the opportunity to discuss issues with colleagues
  • Common issues are discussed
  • To raise awareness of training and professional development
  • To raise issues within the authority that may affect their group
  • To discuss government issues that may be applicable to their group
  • To deliver bespoke training if required
  • To invite guest speakers
  • To visit other schools within the group to observe different environments
  • To help establish their own network of help and support
  • To encourage not to work in isolation
  • To establish themselves as an active valued member of a team
  • To improve self esteem
  • To feel confident in raising issues and problems with colleagues not just at meetings
  • To encourage to take an active part in the development of their role within the school and in discussing the impact and outcomes
  • To liaise and discuss the progress of the pupils with their line manager
  • To offer strategies of differentiation to the subject teachers
  • To glean knowledge of the type of difficulties of the pupils they work with
  • To inform on health and safety issues
  • To discuss their working environment
  • To be aware of any legislation regarding their pupils
  • To look at and discuss appropriate recording strategies

  • To act as a 'mentor'

Objectives

  • To offer help and advice regarding their case load
  • Help in establishing appropriate I.L.P's
  • Help in the delivery of the I.L.P's
  • To offer demonstration teaching
  • To raise self esteem
  • To act as a focus regarding information and resources
  • To advise on relevant training and professional development
  • To oversee and monitor the transition of skills gleaned in the cluster into the classroom and individual teaching
