Primary Cluster Meeting - 18/09/06

Agenda:
- The meeting opened with a welcome from K.P. especially for new members from Mossley. She showed the information booklet produced last year.
- K.P. explained the I.C.T. Awards of last year. She reported that the winning Micklehurst presentation was already on the w.w.w.senict.co.uk website along with the judges comments. K.P. would like all presentations to be included.
- It appeared some of the entrants had not yet received their certificates. M.S. promised to check the next day.
- The main agenda was presentations by some of the entrants.
- Belinda Cooper showed her highly commended work with Board Maker, including Reward Charts, Visual Timetables, Dinner-time charts, a feelings chart, her own timetable, Stop Cards, blending sequence cards, support for P.M. Starter Reading Books and a Narrative Therapy Pack.
- Emma Bennett and Judith then explained Micklehurst's winning entry. They had used the Inclusion Support and Development Initiative arranged by Fred Coker which offered a free laptop and training. They made use of Smart Notebook, used a wireless mouse, talking word processors with Textease, made their own bookmarks, used Board Master to help a child with A.S.D., used Clicker 4 for differentiation, making a word bank and a talking word book on going to the baths. Use of Word and Number Shark improved spelling and self-esteem.
- Marjorie Carty also briefly explained her work with the talking computer project using Textease. She also used Eyetrack alongside to improve visual memory.
- There followed a 10 minute session for other attendants to look at the materials, ask questions and discuss.
- The Nessy and Lexia products were then discussed briefly.
- After a short discussion it was agreed the next meeting would be working on the group's Assessment Pack and the Advice leaflet. S.L. to photocopy for the meeting.
- There would also be a Talktime. Members to be ready to discuss problems and give ideas to others.
- It was also decided to show the Nessy and Lexia materials to members who did not know about them. Nessy would be shown at the next meeting leaving Lexia for a future meeting.
