Outcomes:

• Discussed issue of DVD, cost and order form
• Website - Schools Support Development Centre (formally NVQ Centre) added to site to give information re: courses for TA's and SSA's
• VAK taked about preferred learning styles. Test given out to try on themselves. May influence the way they teach
• Wave 3 intervention, Jenny Stanley trialing strategies for numercy intervention eg. Number Box. Stalybridge schools trialing Number Zones, appraisal forms given out
• Thanks given to Joanne Sandilands for putting together a pack of suitable test materials for TA's and SSA's
• Kath Pearson discussed the Lexia Assessment
• Assessments currently used by TA's and SSA's present are: Skill Teach, National Literacy Framework, Tameside numeracy assessment, P.A.T. assessment sheet and the phonic pyramid
• Discussed who does the assessments at their school, varied between SENCo, SSA, TA, teacher and psychologist
• Talked about looking at the perception of print, coloured overlays and photocopying onto coloured paper
• Discussed the reading and spelling skills are different
• New pivats 3
• Feedback from assessment pack at next meeting
• Training needs identified:
  • instruction on software
  • talk through the tests
  • numeracy input
  • training in summer term
